Tips for Tanning at Glowing Tan & Beauty Bar
Tanning is your body’s natural defense against sunburn, so beware of the burn for the best results! Our expert Tanning Consultants will help you determine your best plan for a GLOWING tan.
Before you tan
Be sure to shower, exfoliate, and moisturize. Remove your makeup, perfume, deodorant, watches, and jewelry. Make sure any meds you’re taking aren’t photosensitive. Apply special indoor tanning products right before your session.
While you tan
Wear eye protection and lip balm, and bring coverups for sensitive areas if you’re tanning in the nude—just in case. If your skin stings, end your session.
After you tan
For radiant results, moisturize! Apply tan extenders to keep that glowing tan look for even longer. If you happen to take it just a little too far, try aloe based gels for immediate relief.

Tips for Customized Spray Tans at
Glowing Tan & Beauty Bar
Prep
- Don’t wear deodorant, perfume, or makeup. Remove it before your session.
- Don’t shave for 24 hours prior to your visit.
- Shower and exfoliate to remove excess skin cells.
- Spend extra time exfoliating thick skin on knees, elbows, and ankles.
During Session
- Follow the instructions given by your spray tan artist.
- Bring dark, loose clothing and open-toed shoes to wear afterward.
Afterwards
- Don’t shower for 4-6 hours following your spray tan.
- Don’t exercise or sweat at least four hours after your spray tan.
- When you shower 4-6 hours after receiving your spray tan, ONLY rinse with water.
- After showering, apply tan extenders or your moisturizer of choice to help your spray tan last longer!

Is there a minimum tanning age?
Glowing Tan & Beauty Bar welcomes anyone 18 and older to experience our quality tanning beds anytime. However, we employ strict age guidelines for those under 18— the FDA-recommended minimum age for tanning beds. Individual state laws regulate the minimum age for tanning.
Suppose you’re between 14 and 18 and would like to enjoy our tanning bed options. In that case, you’re welcome to do so, provided that your parent or legal guardian co-signs for your Glowing Tan & Beauty Bar Membership and provides his or her informed consent for you to use our tanning bed equipment and other services–by signing our parental consent form.
If you’re under 16, we ask that your parent or guardian stay at the facility for the duration of your tanning session. No one under age 14 may use a tanning bed. However, anyone can receive a customized spray tan, which we fully encourage!
No, tanning sessions at Glowing Tan & Beauty Bar are first come, first serve. However, if you plan a “SPA” day or Group Event, please call and reserve your times at 256-929-8286.
Please bring your photo ID and debit or credit card if you are interested in signing up for a Membership. If you are under the age of 18, you’ll need to bring a photo ID and your parent or legal guardian to sign a parental consent form.

Blue Light
Blue light therapy is a treatment that uses blue light wavelengths to penetrate the skin and kill acne-causing bacteria by using exposure to blue light wavelengths, typically between 405-410 nanometers. Though it is often used to treat acne, it can also be used to improve skin texture and tone.
UV Light
UV lights stimulate the skin to release a pigment called melanin. Melanin absorbs the UV, causing the skin to darken.
